what do yall think will it be good or not, this was uspscsx idea.
Well, since it was my idea[:P], I vote yes. I know, you’re thinking “Well, The Railwire has their own weathering forum, and Rich Divizio has his, so we don’t need another one.” But those forums have almost no action. Maybe 5 posts a day, if that many, on the weathering section of their forums. Plus, it has to be a little intimidating presenting your first piece to the masters with 100 weathered cars under their belt. Plus, MellowMike frequents our forums, along with Aggro. Then you have me([;)]), David(dthurman), and Daniel(06archerd), who all have presented their weathering on the forums.
Just my two cents on the matter. But, of course, the final decision would be up to Bergie(Or another head honcho"behind-the-scenes" ), and, sadly, something tells me the answer would be no.[:(]
Oh, by the way, thanks for posting this Daniel. I didn’t think I’d be back on, but I found time[swg]
And imho that is probably what would happen here once the ‘new’ wore off the idea of a new forum.
I’m not in favor of any more fragmentation of this forum. I love weathering threads, but I’d prefer to see them here on the General forum.
Just since you asked.
Ed
I really dislike ditto heads but I have to be one here, Ed Murphy said it all very well. Why fragment the General forum? We already seem to have more weathering related posts per day than some of the all weathering forums.
Well Ed and bukwrm do have valid points, though I would like Bergie to at the least set up a forum to hold the clinics, they carry some great information and value. I am torn on this, I did vote yes, but can see the point. The Layout and Proto forum while trafficed (sp) are not hopping busy. But the weathering stuff gets lost in the noise also, same as the clinics. I also agree with Matt and Archer (sorry not sure what your real name is:( ) that the other forums with weathering are a little imtimidating to new comers, I feel shy over there and I think the people here are very much into promoting each other, helping, and if anything always there to give a kudo no matter what the work done, and to me that is fantastic, so if anything, maybe Matt, we should just start a Weathering Clinic similar to Joe’s clinics. Try to get everyone to post to it, and it should stay on page 1 or 2. I am all for waethering, that includes buildings, and all the stuff that goes with weathering. That I think is lacking on some of the weathering forums.
But you guys are correct, there seems to be a lot of posts on weathering and the frequency of posts seems larger then the other 2 forums. If they would have one here, I would use it, and still take hints and tips from the others. That said, the MR forums have to be the best place for gathering IMHO.
Thanks for at least broching the subject [tup]
I voted no. I think you can get any answer or tip you need here in spades.
I voted yes since I have seen so many weathering topics on here.

Bump.
I voted yes because there seem to be questions every day on the subject…of course, there are threads for your the favorite loco, how to wire in a decoder, having a look at my trackplan, e-bay ripoffs, what type of roadbed is better, and so on. Lately, P2K split gearing problems are taking up space…all legitimately I hastily add… but we could argue for a forum on locomotive repair.
Maybe just leave things as they are. Clinics do okay for me. So take my percentage off the yes side…thx.
Mark me down for a no vote… Not as if that matters much… If it were there, I would visit, maybe post a suggestion or two but I don’t see the point in splitting it up either. A more useful, or at least equally, would be if folks put the keyword ‘weathering’ in posts that concern the subject… (I know most do) then a simple scan of the topic list (or search) would bring them out…
What I think WOULD be useful either here or in the layout building forum, are stickys… Topics that stay at the top of the list… One for weathering, one for wiring and control, one for track layjng, scenery, etc where people can post their best techniques… Links to websites where they explain and show how it’s done. That sort of thing.

YES & NO
I would like to see a weather forum because it does come in handy. We can share our ideas there. But there is already forums out there directed at just weathering. It is easy to just go there. And you would still see weathering topics pop up here on the main forum instead of in the right forum. I joined the model trains weathered forum and it nice to go there and see nothing but weathering. Here you can have both on 1 forum (trains & weathering) and that is convenient.
Well, I voted “Yes,” but it’s not a big YES, just more of a “I wouldn’t mind seeing it, as I have nothing against it.”
There are a lot of weathering topics that appear in the General Discussion, and a lot of the times, they are lost in a sea of less informative threads. So, a place to hold clinics that is organized and revolves around weathering and the like would be helpful to many. That way, you don’t have to fi***hrough polls about favorite locomotives, or anything to get to that weathering thread you’ve been looking for.
I would be a frequent visitor. The more pictures I see, the more I want to weather.[8D]
Same here. That’s, more or less, what inspires me to do some of my cars. That, and then looking at the prototype pic to see what I have to do to make it look right.
I voted No because I don’t want to see the forum split into different “departments”, But
if there was a weathering forum already, I would check in often to see what I could learn.
For the folks that are on here regularly, most of us know where to find certain topics. We
remember who started them or at least about when they were posted, so we can find
find them fairly easy. It’s the new guys that come on here that have trouble finding some
of these topics.
This why I think that a sticky topic needs to be at the top of the first page with links to the
“basics” topics. This would not only be helpful for new guys, but us as well. Good luck, Dave
There is already one on yahoo that is great. If you want to see some really great work check it out.
I voted yes because I would like to be able to more information from one site. I have sone some myself latley and it came out pretty good, the biggest step is to just do it. It’s kind of scary to test start on a new Engine but take it slow and don’t be afraid to “break some eggs” Just my oppinion. Joey
Bump.
YES!!!
I cannot seem to find it…what is its title?
