I read an article in Hobby News yesterday reg. painting. Article showed how FasMask can be applied and then sections cut out w/X-acto knife for painting different colors.
In a MR mag article, they showed painting using painter’s easy off blue tape that is good for following contours and comes off easy w/out taking paint w/it.
It would seem like the masking fluid would work better for getting inside the crevacess of a lot of detail. I wonder what the pros and cons are?
As soon as I clean out my airbrush, I’m gonna try some painting again.

Sometimes I tape of my strutures when I have painted something and zap it to see what it will look like .But last night I hand painted because I zap the stairs on before Ipainted them.I think it depends on what your trying to do
When masking, I always use tape. There are so many different types, I prefer 3M. They offer different tack levels depending on the application. With liquid type masking materials, there may be compatibility problems with the paint. If you use all acrylic paints there should be no problem because most liquid masks are acrylic based.

The other problem I see is that you need to use a hobby knife to cut the mask. I’d be afraid of scratching the model. I’ve never performed the procedure, so I’m just hazarding a guess.
