I was looking and SS LTD came up. Do they make the items for Alloy Forms. I was looking to see if they still sell this type of fencing or is Ebay really the only place to find it. I have 4 of the kits so far and need some more. It’s fantastic fencing but not the easiest thing to assemble.
I bought 1 pack of the Alloy fence a long time ago and when I started to install fencing I needed at least 2 more boxes but found that Hobbylinc.com has appearantly bought Alloy and has discontinued the fence along with a lot of other neat stuff.
The fence would look really good with the upper and lower rails but I would have had to drill out the post holes which I could never do.
I’m using fence by BLMA instead. In fact I was working on it this afternoon and at one point my threw a knife down and it stuck in my work bench. I’ll try again in a bit.
SS LTD does still make the kit, and has transferred the fence from Alloy Forms (which it owns the HO division of) to the SS LTD lineup of products. Part number SS4128. Currently it just for special order. Also the kit is using for the fencing a fine woven bright silver fabric material (paint-able), that replaces the quite costly (but nice) aluminum mesh that had been used in the past. Alternatives are actively being sought for material for the chain link that is less costly. Brass posts are better now with open eyelets to ‘hang’ the fence on.
Both Scale Structures Ltd and Alloy Forms are now owned by Jaks Inc. I do not see the part number for the chain link on their site under part # SS4128:
JAKS Industries sold the complete lines of Alloy Forms & Scale Structures LTD to Ad Infinitum LLC of Kansas back in April of this year. You would need to contact them directly for ordering the kit via email or phone. (I know, as I work there.)
By now you have probably finished your fencing but in case you are still planning what to do I’ve posted a picture of the BLMA fencing.
After retreiving my knife I went back to work and am just about done with the fence. I wouldn’t have wanted to try doing it with out the metal chain link though.
Will Ad Infinitum LLC be starting a new website, or continuing to use the old JAKS site? Hopefully, they will be updating the pictures of the products and adding photos of all the oned that say ‘Picture not Available’
Bob, I used the chain link fencing that came with the Northern Light and Power susbstation kit. I threw more than my knife down… [banghead] They use a fabric for the actual fencing. I was happy with the results, though. However, my sanity took a small hit. I’ll tackle the high voltage towers when they loosen the sleeves on my strait jacket.
I don’t know if this is the Ad Infinitum website, but I saw in the MR Catalog & Website Directory the following website for Scale Structures LTD and Alloy Forms: http://www.scale-structures.com/. I did not see a kit for the fence, however.
Ad Infinitum LLC is still using the old website until a new one can be built. It is now found at scale-structures.com and is actually adding photos and more info for the many kits every week. jaksind.com url will be phased out in the near future.
Very few photos are in color, and several (many?) do not have any photos or even have models to take photos of- that is an area being developed currently.
