Does any Manufacturer produce a
HO Southern Pacific 4-8-0" (1920 - 1940 time frame)
preferably in plastic?
Do I need to kit ba***his ( haven’t do this before)?
What model should I use( Bachmann 2-8-0) ?

I think that TYCO had a Model of a 4-8-0 in the Late '70’s.While it’s not exactly what you may be looking for,it might be of some help to you.
John,
Unless you are talking brass no one has an accurate model out there. I have been using Bachmann 2-8-0’s with the short vandy tenders for reasonable looking stand ins…This would be a reasonable starting point for a kit bash. You could haunt Ebay for an older brass model that could be superdetailed as well.
Trainnut1250/AztecEagle,
Thanks for the info.
I’ll probly use the bachmann in the mean time until i’m able to get my skills up to kit bash one.
John
You might try mating an MDC Harriman 4-6-0/2-8-0 boiler and cylinders to a Mantua 4-8-0 chassis to make a TW-8. That should get you pretty close and the MDC 7,000 gal tender is one of the ones used by the TW-8’s.
Let me know how it turns out. I’ve been thinking about doing one of those for years but haven’t yet managed to get one of those fabuluous round TUIT’s.
