Same as the subject. Im trying to find a ballast color that will match with my fastrack to create a realistic appearence by adding the loose ballast aroud the edges.
Thanks

Woodland Scenics light grey is pretty close.

Ditto, Ed’s reply.
Does the size match as well? Is there only one size of “light grey?” Is there a stock number?
After using three bags of Woodland Scenic Medium Gray Blend Ballast I find it greatly compliments the fast track. Because it is a blend it adds texture, depth and contrast that greatly improves the look of the fast track molded ballast. He color code number is B94.
There are diffrent sizes.I use medium.you might like fine.

Anybody have any pictures?
Along the same “lines”: Jim Apitz used a “ink” type wash on his. Very thin wash but the darkness brought the individual rocks and looked more realistic.
This is the blend that I mentioned above. it can lightly be placed around the ties and it matches the plastic color real well. It is simple and fast to cover each piece. I think it adds the right amount of color and texture to give the flat plastic that 3-D look.
That looks really good. Is it sitting there loose, or did you glue it?
Thank you I thought it made the Fast Track more appealing in addition is acts as a sound reducer for those that must have a quiet track. It is glued with Woodlands Scenics > Scenic Cement. I think the added texture makes it just as nice as those that use Atlas or some other track.
You can do a lot with Fast Track when you take the time to be creative. Fast track might not be for everyone but I found it is far more versital than most people give it credit.
Man I have no idea in heck why i am up this late tonight.
How did you raise layout height flush with the top of the Fastrack?
