If so how do you like it? Give some info on the performance, detail, ect. They look like nice engines.
Thanks

Very smooth performers, as are most other Spectrum steam engines.
Installing a sound system would be quite a challenge, though, because the tenders are quite small when compared with other Bachmann models.
I have one of the ‘high boiler’ versions with the ‘small’ tender(same as the ‘Russian’ 2-10-0). I was able to put a Soundtraxx ‘LC’ decoder in mine. It was set up for the ‘Russian’, and I thought it would ‘drop in’. Bachmann spun the decoder socket about 90 degrees and in a different location. I had to remove everything and remount the wiring(took about 3 evenings). Work great! The engine is a little ‘light’, and will pull about 7-8 cars up my ‘hill’(2.7 % grade). As a comparison, my Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 will take about 10 cars up the hill, and my P2K GP9’s will pull about 10-11 cars up the hill.

I have the 4-6-0 and use it as a rolling stock test engine. It is a nice runner.
Getting a sound system into it will be a challenge. This engine is one of two remaining that will be slated for a sound/dcc upgrade in the future.
I dont expect it to pull much uphill. But I do expect to haul at least 5 cars.
I have a Spectrum 4-6-0 with the low boiler, and “midget” tender… I have a sound Digitrax sound decoder and speaker in the tender (tight fit, but solid performer and the sound’s make it the show stopper of my layout).

I am curious to the exact model sound digitrax sound decoder and item part numbers associated used on your 4-6-0 Iron Goat?
IronGoat,
Sound ‘Digitrax’ decoder? I thought the Digitrax sound decoder was not even shipping until November. I have a ‘Soundtraxx’ decoder in mine. It is the DSD-B210LC ‘plug & play’ decoder for the Spectrum 2-10-0.

First off, it was a Soundtrax decoder not a Digitrax (small glitch…), but the decoder used was the Soundtrax DSD 090 LC with a 1 inch speaker. Due to the small space available inside the small tender, it had to be hardwired… not an easy job !!! Info and photo’s are available on this link:

Once again, when the job is done… the little ten-wheeler will be the star of your layout.
I hope this will help you… Bob
