Would like an objective review from a user on the Atlas C424/5 unit, details ok ?
TKS to all who respond [:D]
I’ve got a few of them and think they are great runners. If you’re looking for a lot of detail, you will be disappointed. But for the price, they are a good buy.
Nice layout, how big is that ! Excellent use of the space, I love that long yard.
My son & I have three of them. One BN and two SP&S. They are the old ones made by KATO. Nuff said.
I was going to ask if you were looking at the older ones or the newer ones. I have tow of the older ones with Kato drives they run great. I just started putting decoder in them. Having a bit of trouble with lower speed control. They run well on dcc at normal speeds. Detail doesn’t seem all that bad on the older ones. Havn’t seen the newer ones.
I have one of late 80s vintage: Mechanism is still smooth as silk, the detail is fine, a bit thin compared to today’s standards, and the Derlin handrails are long gone. The paint is well executed,
I also have two from the 2004 run. Great mechanism, and the detailing is good. The painting is excellently done. Well worth the price, (and actually they are a relative bargin compared to Kato, BLI, and some others).

Thanks guys, [:X] I was looking at picking up a couple in the Apache paint scheme, My private road lifted their scheme basically, I was thinking of having a link to the Apache railroad, just to justify the C424’s.
