I was thinking about buying one of these on Ebay. But the problem I heard is that the new 89’ Tri Level Enclosed Auto Carriers WILL NOT fit across this thing. Does anyone have one that can shead some light on this?
Thanks

For a starting bid of $875, I’d expect it to pick up and carry to the other side anything that won’t fit[:-^] I would also expect that at that price not a lot have been sold.[:O]
You should ask the seller the question. Be sure to include the thickness of ties and rails in your calculations.

Actually $875.00 is cheap for that bridge. I would go as high as $1250.00 for that thing. They sell about 1 a month on Ebay. I did ask the seller, he has no clue as to what he is selling let alone if anything would fit across it. I also asked him to measure it and he didn’t return my email.
Hey, that price is a drop in the bucket compared to that “bridge within a bridge” (I think that is what it is called) that Overland released a few years back. That thing came in three huge boxes.
Hey there 8500! I’m back in town :O) well, sort of. In the midwest atm. Drop me a line. You GOT to see a little something I picked in Pasadina at the Wistle Stop!!
And you might try to call OMI, or drop them an e-mail… Or maybe even send Dan Glassure (sp) a note, he knows brass.
I remember seeing that bridge in an old MRR mag. It listed for $6799.00. I have tried to find one but I think they only made 20 of them. I would love to get my hands on one of those. That would surely be a $10,000.00 OMI brass bridge.

Sorry I forgot. Called OMI, was treated really great and they answered all my questions. The new 89" Auto Racks WILL NOT for across the bridge. That made my decision easier.
Anyone got a photo of that Bridge with in a Bridge??? Would be interesting to see…
I am looking now. I also have 98% of the OMI Bulletins. I saw it in there also. I’ll post it when I find it. The bridge is HUGE. It’s like 52" long. That’s big for HO.
A guy here in town has two of them. One is being used on his layout (VERY large layout; house was literally built around the basement designed for the layout). It is something to see. Talk about a lot of painting. I did notice on the boxes that they were made in China.
I was looking through some of the old Overland flyers and found a CN bridge they imported that was around a scale 900’ long. It said that only 50 of those were imported. Would be really cool to own either one!!
