Does anyone make a UP 2-12-4 (or whatever the wheels are) in HO? It’d be cool to have, but if I can guess right I’d say it’d need a larger radius curve then an HO Big Boy.[:D][:p][;)][^]

Lionel may do a UP 4-12-2. It seems logical in the pattern, concidering what they’ve done in O. Large Union Pacific locomotives.
I’m sure many of us would love a brute such as this. However what would be the minimum radius requirements? something this big is going to need a lot of realestate to swing!
If Lionel did this in HO, I reckon it would be pretty sweet. The 2 center drivers would have to be blind though.

I hope they if they decide to make it it’s plastic. Brass and dicast metal are just to expensive.

For the 2-10-2; you could start with a Bowser 2-10-2 or the Spectrum Chinese 2-10-2.
For the 4-12-2 http://www.steamlocomotive.com/3cylinder/index.html; you’d need to build a frame; I’d start with a Bowser Big Boy, and lap the two chassis together, over lapping two axles, to give you a total of six axles (the two in the middle are half from the rear chassis, and half from the front).

Some manufacture will jump on the Union Pacific 3 unit gas turbine in HO, as it was voted most wanted locomotive in Model Railroader. Now that is a intresting machine. [;)]
Most layouts couldn’t handle a 9000 even in plastic. The driving wheel base is just to far. It might take 28" minimum. Even on some silverspooner layouts models have difficulty geting around their wide curves.
Now one in N scale would be no problem.
the wheelbase would be a detraction to sales, but many layouts use 30" radius so they still could buy it.
