I was thinking about using someold style rubber roadbed as a base for my small O-31 layout project. Would also need pieces for RCS track and O22 switches. Any leads? The old Lionel prewar stuff is big bucks and hard to locate.
I am trying to find the exact same stuff. I hate the cork roadbed. I know they make them for standard trains, but they are hard to find or they are expensive. O gauge rubber roadbed…humm. Try looking at some websites and see if they offer them. Thanks.
I have seen strips of foam roadbead. I believe it was sold by Scenic Express. It is in a roll.
Check your CTT magazine.
There is a product called Vinylbed out of Mountain City TN. www.VINYALBED.com for road bed. I used it and it works prettygood. They advertise in CTT. Here is a picture of it.

There used to be a product called “Johnson’s Rubber Roadbed”, but the link I have is no longer valid. It was based out of Georgia - anyone have any info on that?
Leave it to the OLD man to come through with the info.
Thanks for the replies guys. I was looking for something that looks a lot like the original Prewar Lionel product with the ballast and ties cast in. I almost purchased some original but finding a set with a complete circle is tough.
You reminded me there’s an outfit here in Illinois - who advertise in CTT - who make rubber ties which fit under tubular track. That might be interesting…
The last place I saw some was at Jim’s Train Shop in Homer City, PA.
He may still have some or know who still makes it.
