reply to topics while working on the railroad down in the basement?
I do this often, I have my computer ding at me while working down here when something new is posted (it dings a lot in this forum) [:)]
Just curious. Her’s what I’m doin’ right now, wiring a trolley line on my layout it makes use of an auto reverser unit so I can run the trolley while running my trains and never have to mess with the trolley (except turning it on).
Anyone else???

I can’t. My layout is 3 flights upstairs.
My computer is in the office in the basement & the layout is in the attic so there’s no distraction between the two.

wow, so where do you set up a layout then? the garage? or the attic like CP5415?

My last layout was a 12’ x 14’ set up in the garage. I got sick of having to park the cars outside all the time so I tore it down. I was getting bored with it.
I’m looking to make a much smaller layout now, 4’ x 8’ or 5’ x 9’ but spend more time on scenery, structure detail, weathering, etc.

I’m building a 24 X 32 layout in my basement right next to my in-home cabinet shop. It will be but a 2 x4 and two sheets of drywall away. Hope I can get some work done!
Not yet, but I’m thinking about it. I have the computer to do the job, and a lot of work to do on the layout.[;)]
at work = home I am never more than 10 ft away from those computer things ( another hobby : collecting computers )
always that forum distraction, I should work right now, because I am in “work-mode” but if I swing my chair around I am facing my “model workbench - desk” as I look to my right I see a big open space asking for benchwork.
I find that if I have a distraction when I want to work on the railroad, I usually end up doing whatever distracted me. If I have no distractions, then I get more accomplished & better quality of work from myself at the same time.

My computer has always been in the kitchen. I come onto it when I’m stuck or frustrated, which by the number of posts would indicate this happens frequently.
With the new computer we now have the old one in the basement but it isn’t hooked upto the net… Yet!

[dinner][dinner] Seriously, my layout is in the planning, wishing and bankrupt stage at the present. I quess you could say though that being here could be considered working on it because I’m keeping notes, from all you good people, of things suggested that i may use when I finally start building
Looks like there’s alot of work to do in that basement too, man you must really have to clean the layout after you use that saw. i can sense the sawdust all over the place already! [:p]

no not unless i’m on my dads laptop which happens very rarely. But if digitrax counts um then i’m always on the computer when i’m workin on the layout. BTW nice pics dano how bout some more?
I live in “hotel mummy” so my room is not big. I have only one desk where i work on my trains and on my computer. So i can detail an engine and write a message.
In a half year or so, i will move in my own appartment…
