FYI: On the links that you provided: The first one is in German; the second one doesn’t work.
Anyway, I have one of the Trix NYC 2-8-2 Mikados (#1883) and like it VERY much. [:)][tup] The low speed response (or BEMF) is smooth and detailing is just terrific. I’d have to say that it’s my favorite locomotive.
When Trix released these a couple of years ago, they had a starting price of over $600 US. Eventually, the price came down to the mid-400s. Then, earlier this year, Trix started to dump them. I picked one up for $220 US. (And I’m glad I did.)
The Trix Mikados have the older LokSound 2.0 sound decoder in them, but it can be fitted with the newer 3.5 version. Even so, I think the sound of the LokSound 2.0 decoder is still very good.
The only thing that I don’t particularly like is the “fixed” whistle. However, the bell is nice and crisp. And, I actually like the chuff on my Trix Mike more than my BLI Mike because it’s “throatier” and sounds more realistic above speed step 020. The Trix Mikados can also be easily fitted with a smoke unit, if you want - which they are already wired to accept.
Railroad, if you can get a good price on one, I’d snap one up. (Or, both!) Hope that helps…
