I know the voltage is different but I would like to buy many of the japenese passenger train sets but will the engines run ok? I don’t want them to over heat or something stupid. I have Kato unitrack and a MDC 220 controller.

If you have a double track main line; just make sure that you stick to “left hand running” – so that they will feel comfortable in their new home !!

(i.e. the Japanese drive on the Left hand side of the road)
Didn’t they tell you? You need to run them on Panasonic batteries. Sony batteries will work too if you can find them. Actually the powerpack would be the area of concern. Make sure to use one that matches what comes out of the wall to what the engine needs. I assume your MDC unit would work fine. FRED
Kato’s Japanese-prototype locomotives run on the same power as its US-prototype models, 12VDC. This applies to both N and HO scales.
Happy New Year,
