A Peco 3 way medium radius turnout with insulfrog
what are they generally used for? In other words, can the center track be your mail line and you have two turnouts on each side? I don’t think I’ve seen one in use on a layout before. Also, how does Pecos system of small, medium and large relate to Atlas #4, 6, 8 etc? The one in the photo is a ‘medium radius’ but I don’t know what a medium radius would be.
Thanks,
Jarrell
Having the straight through as your main and branching to sidings on both sides is only one of the possibilties for this turnout. What about fanning out into a yard? We have 4 of these turnouts on our HO scale club layout to spread the tracks out as they enter the steam engine servicing area (roundhouse). These turnouts take up much less room than two individual ones.
Try this http://www.peco-uk.com/products.htm as it may answer your questions on radii. There might also be something in the Walthers Catalogue.

Cool! I like that idea.
Thanks Cacole!
