DCC can be used to make some model locos better mimic the prototype and also make it possible to run incompatable loco (multiple unit) together.
Has anybbody tried double heading steam and/or steam helpers using DCC with a separate operator (engineer) for each loco?
Don
I am running numerous engines and double heading with both steam and diesel. I use an MRC Command 2000 system, which is a bit outdated, but find with few adjustments to start voltage numerous engines can be programmed to the same address rather than trying to run double-headers independently. I have consists of F7’s, 4-6-6-4’s with 4-8-2 helpers, etc. Only possible with DCC as far as I’m concerned.
One of the main advantages of DCC is to run locos using the same address and make mismatched locos work together, but has anyone tried to run locos together with a separate engineer for each loco like the prototype used to have to do.
