Great doubleheading, Mr. Schade! I must ask though: how are #9 and #24 able to run so well together when they are two completely different sizes, with different wheel arrangements, and possibly different pulling powers?
Live steamers are different than sparkies. They apply force to the wheels rather than turn them at a given speed. you can pull a dead steamer (up to a point) and its wheels will roll. When in steam, they both help as they can. If one is more powerful it pulls harder. If one has larger wheels they turn slower.
These two engines are actually more similar than it would seem. They both use Roundhouse cylinders and have similar wheel diameter. In fact, they each can pull about the same amount.
That’s cool! Though I have a hard time believing a Forney and a Prairie could have similar tractive efforts. Maybe it’s just that I’m used to Prairies being high-drivered passenger engines…
Great train. Like the way it pushes the vegetation aside.
one of the best I have seen
Great railway, great garden and great video.
Two thoughts on the question of two different locos working together.
If one pulls harder than the other, that is just like a big and little child pulling a trolley - it works, and
Because the two locos are coupled together, they must travel together irrespective of different performance.
Hope this helps some to accept the fact that different locos will work together, although perhaps not the best match.
Now that’s what I’m talking about!!! A real inspiration to one who is just getting into live steam garden railroading!
Marvelous and realistic layout. Impressive!
Great railroad - the natural scenery is just great too especially track running between the small pines! A real inspiration!
Wow! Great video. I’m jealous. I REALLY have to get serious about improving my meager garden layout now.
Excellent Layouts. I am just starting out in Garden Railways, My layout will be to 16mm scale (SM32) and I have a Roundhouse “Millie” and a Mamod “Brunel” (Coffee Pot) and some rolling stock kits. Hopefully to be running maybe 2012. I am a 5" & 7 1/4" fan at the moment but at 76 Years of age, I have decided to scale down, weight-wise!
Very nice!
Amazing ! The forest landscape is wonderfull.
A real dream for every outdoor modeler.
I enjoyed it ,great job ,and a nice layout thanks for leting us enjoy it too.

AWESOME SIMPLY AWESOME, extremely well done. The natural setting compliments your style of garden railroad. Looking forward to see more of your great work.
really enjoyed watching.
Wonderful, as always! If there were only metal wheels on the cars (because of the sound)…
Really enjoyed the entire line and run and landscaping was also great.
