down sizing

To the people i made friends over the past few years , I am down sizing and getting ready to move. I am moving to an apartment and no place for g scale trains , but i did keep some engines and cars and track . I have not been posting lately due to health reasons. I will miss my pond and out side rail road . I will stop by the forum and let you know how things are going . Ben [:(]

Sorry to hear that Ben, but health is most important, let me know if you consider an indoor layout, maybe a ceiling layout? I’ll help any way I can, Vic

Well now that is just chipper news. I enjoyed the visit to your railroad and regret that I could not make a return visit in a timely manner. You built a masterpiece and I will miss your work as well. What are your plans for the train collection? Surely you can’t fit all that into an apartment. It would be a shame for it to all end up scattered and tossed away.

I wish you health and happiness, please do continue to frequent the forum. You did in fact make friends here and we would all like to continue hearing from you frequently. In fact, now that you won’t have to worry about maintaining a railroad you can spend more time on the forum!

While I said much the same to Ben in an e-mail, I commend TJ for saying it a better way than I did. AMEN!

Ditto. Thoughts and prayers to you.

Hi Benny, I`m over the pond but I like others have seen you on the forum helping others with sound advice, we all wish you the best for the future. Take care[tup]

time to take a little break from moving some things ,it was to cold this morning 12 above and a breeze.

V.Smith ,Tangerine Jack ,Capt. Bob Johnson, M. T. Carpenter, and Two Tone , thanks for the comments ,it takes to long to get things ready to do the move ,to much stuff here after i lived here 33 years. we hope by March 5th to be in the apartment IF the weather is fit for the move . Ben[:(]

Benny, I empathise with you, I lost my garden RR due to the big ‘D’. I had to move into a small apartment as well. Then I decided I wasn’t going to let all that crap get me down, and dug out an old 5x8 portable layout board and stuck it on top of the diningroom table…

That layout has survived ANOTHER move, several revisions, and has even grown a small bit.

If you want it bad enough, you’ll find a way. Good Luck!

All the best to you! I know where you are at. I’ve had health problems for the last couple of years and hope each day that life can continie for me, my wife and dogs for a long time yet. I need many more years of train time.

well i made the move to my apartment on March 3rd, boy do i miss my pond and trains . we are getting things put away . at least i got this thing working again . later ben

Take care my friend. Your advise and counsel will always be appreciated here.

Hi Ben, Good to see you posting here again!

Hi Ben,

As I’ve said in our e-mails, I wish you and your family the very best in this new chapter of your lives.

Look at the bright side … with a smaller home and far fewer maintenance duties you’ll have more time to try new things. I’m in the process of setting up a small On30 layout in the basement. It’s very different from large scale but still a lot of fun. Maybe you can try your hand at scratch building fine-scale LS locos and cars to display. The point is that model trains have obviously been an important part of your life for a long time so I would encourage you to try to find some way to keep your hand in it.

I wish you the very best,

Walt

Ben The very best for the future. I think we all fear giving up our gardens but you have made a wise decision for your health. I do recommend 0n30 for your apartment. Cheers Ian

Ben I’ve got a nice little indoor plan about 6’x7ish’ that might be right size for an apartment [:O]

Just the thing ta keep ya busy [:-,]

Wow, Vic, you are a Master at designing small layouts! You should do a book of track plans…

SandyR

Thanks but it’d never sell, too few doing it, the funny thing is that plan was based on an N gauge Micro I found online.[:O]

Sorry to hear about the changes. Drop me a line when you get a chance.
