Downeast Scenic RR Starts Service in Maine

The Downeast Scenic Railraod located in Ellsworth, ME will start service on July 31. The railroad runs on a section of the former Maine Central RR tracks that used to run from Bangor to Calais and was abandoned in 1985.

For power they have an ALCO S-4 with a GE 70 Ton as backup. The 70 Tonner used to belong to the Belfast & Moosehead Lake RR that went bust a couple of years ago; I do not know where they found the S-4. Thay also have a restored 1926 caboose, a 1915 passenger car and a 1960 flatcar.
