dp6t rotary switches

Hey All,
I am doing a rewire to our club layout. I am going to use dp6t rotary swtches and would like to know if I can use a common return wire with the dp switches, and if so, would I just run the common line from the power packs and the other leads to my rotaries?

Thanks all, Dave P.

If I understand the question correctly, yes they can be used with a common wire, and yes the common line from the cabs would go to the common side of the track. The hot wire from each cab would go to the appropriate lead of the rotary. The common from the rotary would go to the hot side of the track block. You only need one pole of the rotary switch for a common wire system.

Any particular reason you aren’t converting to command control? Even if not why not put in appropriate wiring for it now, to make it easier to convert later?
