I just watched the Dream-Plan-Build Video Series on Realistic Layout Operations for the 10th time. It is my favorite by far. The question is…how would these operations be changed if you went to a CTC panel to control train movements?

Several things would change: while you would still have written train orders for originating extras, you would eliminate stopping/slowing down for pickup of train orders and track warrants along the way. You would also eliminate the need to stop and throw switches except for on road switching operations. Your mains and sidings would all be lined up for you and you would obey the lights.
