Draw Bridge

I was talking to my Dad and he said I can build my layout on some conditions. The first is I cannot block the windows in the room. That means my benchwork cannot get higher than about 3 feet. That is ok with me but I want to build an around the walls layout and the duck under required would be really low (about 3 feet) and he said he doesn’t want me trying to build a draw bridge because “it will be too much work and your train will derail”. Does any body have a derail proof plan for a bridge?
I think i can change his mind.
