Dream-Plan-Build shipping a little too often?

Is Kalmbach milking the (cash) cow a little too often?

When the Dream-Plan-Build series was introduced in 2005, there was a thread entitled “If you shuld get a Dream Plan Build DVD from Kalmbach.”

http://www.trains.com/TRC/CS/forums/584082/ShowPost.aspx

In that thread, locomotive3 published a letter from Kalmbach customer service. I added the bold type.

I’ve been buying them relularly since the series was intorduced. I didn’t pay much atttention other than lately they seemed to coming a little more frequently. While I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago one arrived in the mail. Then, this past Saturday, another one arrived. That works out to every 2-3 weeks, not months. If this keeps up I may stop buying them.

Just my [2c] .

Yes they are !!! It seems as though they haven’t cashed my check for one edition and the next one is in my mailbox. At current I owe them for two I haven’t had a chance to watch yet. Talk about being pushy !!!

If it works, work it. They have an easy way to send them back. I have been doing that with the issues that are not in my interest area.

Also you can quit any time.

The other side of any marketing idea is the need for the customer to also take care of business.

This seems to be similar to a “club” I belonged to a long time ago. Can’t recall if it was a book club or what, maybe a subscription to a series of videotapes. But I do recall the same thing happening, the product was coming a lot faster than they mentioned in their original offers, often less than a month apart. I got out of the scheme before they had the chance to come very week!

I don’t let it bother me too much. If I’m interested in the content, I keep it and send the check, if I’m not, I just send the DVD back. Though I will admit that several of them lately haven’t interested me at all–the Big Diesel and the DCC hints–and the last general one had nothing I was interested in. I do like the fact that it’s not a WELL YOU SIGNED UP SO YOU BUY IT WHETHER OR NOT YOU LIKE IT type of offer. Otherwise, I’d probably be pawning some of the DVD’s off on my unsuspecting friends, or erasing them in my DVD recorder to use as blanks for recording good classic Westerns off of my favorite movie channel, LOL!

I don’t know. but I moved and my mail was not fowarded in a timely fashion. Buy the time I got Vol 5 and the Big Power issiue I also got 4 letteres with it from them complainting for money. I paid for them back in march. I have yet to get Vol 6. I wonder if I am going to have to call.

James.

I agree, I still have two in the box also.

Enjoy

Those are a part of my budget. I buy em when they come in. I always watch them once before writing a check for it.

IF you miss a few issues, check Ebay sometimes a few or whole sets get sold there. Or better yet call Kalmbach directly and ask for them.
