Has anyone else seen the new Dream Plan Build video put out by MR?
I thought it was great and will get in line for the next one!
I got mine in the mail a week ago. I watched it, and really enjoyed it. Some of the layouts featured make mine look like a seasonal layout. Gotta like the bronze coin collection to. For $19.95 + $4.95 every 2-3 months, I think it’s worth it.
I also enjoyed it but I had problems with my copy. About 1/2 way through, the DVD began to “flicker” and hesitate, then stop, then eventually wouldn’t track at all. I examined the surface of the DVD and it was clean as a whistle.
My DVD player is only a couple of years old. The only problems that I’ve had with it is with library DVDs - and they are usually full of fingerprints and scratches anyhow. I enjoyed what I saw of it.
Tom
Your DVD player might need cleaned.
Try this, just take a damp and soft cloth and wippe the DVD off , then retry it. If it doesn’t work then I’d say the problem may be your player.
I really enjoyed the video. Very helpful with “how to do things” much better than reading it from a book. WOW! Some really great layouts, I can only dream f anything like some of these!
That Northland setup, SPECTACULAR!!!
I can hardly wait for the next video!!!
at $19.95 plus shipping, it’s a GREAT DEAL!!!
Which volume are you talking about? I got the third volume a few weeks ago and I enjoyed it.
Also had the same flickering problem on my DVD player. Bought a cleaning disc for it and it works like a champ again. A friend gave the player to me a little over a year ago and it was working fine up until I used it this time. I guess they can build up dirt pretty quickly.
Got my DVD cleaning disc at Wally World for about 10 bucks. Good investment, as far as I’m concerned, and a LOT cheaper than having somebody look at it, only to tell me to clean it!
I haven’t put the D-P-B disc in my computer yet to access the pdf files. Keep forgetting to do that.
Darrell, forgetfully quiet…for now
I’ll have to try the cleaning disk. The flicker was so bad in the dvd player that I could not watch it, so I watched it on my laptop.
Enjoy
Paul
Greetings,
Could someone tell me where to buy the video, “Dream Plan Build”.
Thanks,
Neal
As I stated before, I don’t have problems with other discs and the surface of the DVD was mint. However, I did wa***he surface off with water and wiped it from the center out - as you should ALWAYS do when wipe and CD or DVD. (Radial scratches are “okay”. Circumference scratches, BAD!) Anyway, the cleaning made no difference at all.
My guess is that the disc is defective. I will, however, try the DVD out on another player to be sure. Paul, did you have any problems at all with hesitation watching it on our laptop?
Tom
My computer went on the fritz so now I have to take it to work to access the pdf files. I wi***hey we all in either dvd or pdf and not both.
I really liked the “bonus” view of the MR&T. It is fun to see the patchwork of different projects done to the route. It is amazing how many articles and video clips you recognized as the train covers the layout.

I have only received two volumes so far. Are there now three? I only got the second volume a couple weeks ago.
I thought the third DVD was way too basic and sent it back. Hoping the 4th is better.
I didn’t watch the video they sent and it might be great, but to be honest I was very unhappy with the marketing procedures Kalmbach used in this promotion.
To send someone a video, unsolicited, never asked for it, etc., then to expect them to either pay for it or package it up and send it back is pretty poor.
If they just said here’s a free video, if you want more like it please send a payment that would have been OK but to say buy it or send it back and then after that to say, o well, I guess if you don’t want to do either you can just keep since you didn’t ask for it wasn’t the way to do this.
Phil:
Overall, have to agree with you–that’s fairly agressive marketing, but probably pretty smart on Kalmbach’s part. A lot of people like me would probably not have thought about getting it/ordering it otherwise. I imagine the downloadable stuff might really be good too, but as my computer is just CD-ROM and not DVD, I can’t download them!!
Not sure yet if I’m going to send it back–$9.00 for the first one is pretty reasonable, and $19.95 for the future ones doesn’t seem too bad either.
