Received volumn 4 today. Havent had a chance to view it yet. Anyone else get theirs?
If it’s not too much trouble, could you list the chapter titles? Thanks!!!
I watched it. I was a little disappointed on the building benchwork section. I was hoping for more than just another 4x8 table. Still had a few things I could take away from it. There could have been a little more on the flex track section. It is nice to see it done rather than just reading about it. The stripping paint from models with 90% alcohol was very interesting. I might have to give that a shot. Seemed to work really well.
I can’t remember all the sections or chapter titles (I am not at home right now), but in addition to the above topics, there is a chapter on the UP maintaining rails, including explaining what all the different vehicles do, a history of the Lionel company, a Lionel layout, a couple of nice HO layouts, the Baltimore Model Railroad group in both Lionel and HO, building resin kits, and a couple of others that slip my mind right now.
Noticed a few more gliches in the production this time. Subject off camera while explaining what was happening, awkward pauses that probably should have been edited out or reshot, etc. Still worth the price
I also got mine yesterday, watched part of it, This one really is more for real beginners, not that thats bad. Only watched half as I had to watch my Buffalo Sabres win against Carolina last night. Will watch the rest tonight. The Maintainence equipment part was interesting. Will continue to get them, might as well have the collection.
No. Havent gotten volume three yet.
Stillgrande covered most of the articles. Was a little dissappointing to me also. Spent way too much time on lionel history to me. Will still keep it tho. Was also hoping for different benchwork than a 4 x 8, but was ok. Had an article on adding DCC to locos also. Sorry to take so long to reply mandg. Several different layouts in different scales. What to do if you find an old train in your attic.
I gave up on vol. 1.
I haven’t gotten Vol. 2! I sent in my form to keep Vol. 1 and they STILL haven’t sent me another, after a month!
Also, is it just me, or do those people need to get out in the sun sometimes?
Not yet but I just sent in my Vol. 3 payment.

Happy Railroading.[swg][swg]
Haven’t seen it here yet either, but I was a little late returning vol. 3–just sent it back a couple of weeks ago. This one came more quickly than previously. Vol. 3 just came out last month.

What’s the coin?
Got mine earlier this week and watched the first 8 or 9 sections/chapters. Pretty basic stuff but the part where Terry T. is adding DCC to a diesel was good, and I REALLY know how to build a 4x8 table now ( third time I’ve seen that).
Have to see the rest of it this weekend. It’s probably a keeper.

Coin is a GG1
I sent my payment for #3 in right after I got it, but haven’t received #4 yet.
I had mine shut down temporarly and reactivated it.
I recieved both the Volume Three and Volume 4 last week. (Thanks!)
The best section in my mind was the Andy’s Operation of the Turtle Creek railroad that consisted of a complete way freight cycle. It was done very well.
Now if they can do a Yard segment using the yard they published in the MR for July and another segment for thru and staging.
Perhaps a segment showing a complete train to one town using 2 or 4 step way bills with several industries in good detail… it might be rather long but could be worth it if done right. Spots, Setouts, runarounds and paperwork! Oh joy!
There are plenty of large beautiful layouts with contented owners preening about them while we salviate and dream of what might be someday. No offense intended but it was very nice to follow a TRAIN about it’s day work once in a while. (THANKS ANDY!)
Operation is the key to the Hobby and I think they need to really focus on Operation in future DREAM PLAN BUILD.
Now, I do have one little tidbit that I found missing. I am familiar with the Baltimore Society of Model Engineers and thier layout in the upper floor off the Saratoga Street. I used to visit as a child during open houses.
The sweeping vistas of the camera across both layouts left out a GREAT DEAL of very nice modeling. If memory serves there is a underground scene on the side of the HO layout and a few wonderful spots on the O scale railroad. That camera sweeping from the ceiling really was nice but failed to catch the railroad as a visitor might have seen it. I felt like I needed binoculars and what I remembered in my brain to fill in the gaps.
It was almost as if the Baltimore Segment was edited heavily to fit it’s assigned slot on the DVD and not really fleshed out as much as it could have been.
