Drew’s Trackside Adventures: Episode 7 - Trempealeau Wisconsin
Awesome as allways. I look forward to the next episode!!! Still needs to be a longer show thought!!! LOL
Very informative video. One thing I think should have been mentioned and shown better is the loads on the taconite (spelling) cars - how they are only half full due to the density of the load.
By the way, nice shirt!!! David would be proud.
Great episode. Love Wisconsin along the Mississippi. A Broncos fan in WI? Really? I guess everyone has a drawback, lol. The UP Sunset Route awaits, Drew.
Very nice, Drew. Not very much advertised on this side of the Pond, so all the more interesting.
Thank you, looking forward to Illinois!
Episode 7 was the best I have seen so far, the camera work and commentary were outstanding. Thank you, Keep up the great work.
Thank you for the comments everyone. I’m glad you’re enjoying the show. We’ll keep raising the bar!
Michael, great point about the tac loads. Thank you for making sure that was mentioned.
Very nice. Looks like you hit some cloudy/rainy weather, but video looks better in crummy weather than still photography usually does. Neat info and good trains. Thanks.
Best one so far! Kudos on taking input and modifying your video style with user input. This is probably my favorite series so far on MRVplus.
Great episode Drew, some real muscle on the point of those freight trains.
Nice tips on photography to show speed. There is also another technique you can use if you would care to try. Use the same slow shutter speed and pan the camera along with the train so the train is in focus and the surrounding scenery is blurred in the opposite direction of travel.
Cheers.
Hay Drew,
Really glad to see the next episode it’s been a bit since last post. Definitely a step up in your narration and the videography is great. Looking forward to your next stop in my home state.
This is your best one so far Drew. Love it. Look forward to the next one. I wonder if you will go to the Powder River Basin? Serous rail fanning there.
Thank you everyone. I appreciate the comments and I always enjoy the feedback.
Mario - Ah, the “pan” and the “pace” shots. Favorites of mine that I’ll be sure to mention in a future episode!
I always enjoy your episodes and look forward to the next one. I’d like to request a few more visits to local industrial areas to watch switching operations. I know the high iron is exciting and offers a lot of action. But one of my favorite episodes of Trackside Adventures featured the Milwaukee Road ‘Bandit’ switching cars on an industrial spur.
Thank you, Rick. I appreciate your feedback and I’m adding “switching” to the list!
Super Action!!!
Thanks for a nice episode. Certainly my favourite of the series on MRV+. But, as mentioned by another user, some industrial switching or branchline operations would be very interesting to see.
Question: what was the original railroad owner of this line?
Paul, here’s what I’ve been able to dig up… The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy is the original owner of this route along the east bank of the Mississippi River. However, technically, the Chicago, Burlington & Northern (The CB&Q owned 1/3 of this railroad’s stock) built the trackage along the river.
