Drew’s Trackside Adventures, Episode 8 -Western Ave., Chicago

Love Drew’s adventures. What an operations oriented layout a model railroad based on METRA would make. What a job, Drew. How many people does it take to push you out the Kalmbach office’s door?

Great episode, maybe Union Station next time or Proviso. Were you approached by any law enforcement for cameras on the platforms? How about some more N Scale? The Sunset Route awaits…

Awesome, Drew! Thanks for so many details, and also for taking us to the shops. And Steve, thank you for explaining that grease is not grease. Definitely instructive!!! Looking forward to part #2!

Drew I hoped you liked the traffic on the Kennedy Expressway. Great video as always.

Enjoyed the video on the Metra in Chicago. Just so happens that my wife and I were on vacation in Chicago and rode the Metra from LaGrange to Union Station in downtown Chicago. Looking forward to Episode 2.

Thanks guys, I’m glad you all are enjoying the show. Steve was great to have along!

Be sure to check out Metra: Part 2, where we’ll visit the A2 interlocking tower and witness the afternoon rush in beautiful sunshine!

By the way, I never like to leave the office, especially on a sunny day, but the opportunity to enjoy the busy Chicago traffic was too much to pass up

Very interesting. We live in an area without rail mass transit, so these videos of Metra are fascinating.

Cool to see Chicago’s METRA. Ever think of taking a trip out to Philly to see SEPTA?

Thanks Drew Part of my layout i am building will be modeled after chicago. It is great to see the metra shops, now i know how to model them.

Great video, can’t wait for part two.

Wow Drew! As we say in Massachusetts, that was wicked pissah! I liked seeing station, shop and track side activity. You even caught a burro crane in action. Thanks for another great episode. Can’t wait for part 2.

Please let there be a metra-themed project railroad in the future!

Thanks again guys. I’m glad this episode was entertaining, inspirational and informative. Look for much more of that in Part 2!

WVL JR. - I’ve definitely thought about it since reading your post. Thanks for the idea.

Really good. Can Drew take Steve Sweeney along every time? He is obviously so knowledgeable.

Barry, it’s been four months since you asked and I haven’t forgotten. I’ve been asking Steve to come back for a guest appearance and I’m hoping it won’t be much longer.

Having spent most of my adult working life in the western suburbs of Chicago, this ‘adventure’ brought lots of memories of Metra commuting. You should show one of the express trains speeding by on the center track at 80 mph. Thanks for the memories!

Jerry, my pleasure. Thank you for watching!
