Drive Train Parts for P2K E8/9

I need a little help here. I dropped one of my P2K E8/9s the other day and broke the universal yoke on the front drive shaft. I contacted Walther’s for parts and they tell me that they have not received parts from LL for these locos and don’t know when they might receive them.

This loco is part of my NYC passenger train consist. It has sound installed in it and has a jumper for powering a speaker mounted in the trailing B unit. While I do have a second E8/9 (also part of the normal train) I would like to get this one running again.

Does anyone know where I might purchase replacement parts for this loco’s drive train. They don’t have to be LL/Walther’s as long as they will work.

Having a similar problem, I just bought a damaged unit on ebay and salvaged the parts.

I’ve never purchased or used these, but Micro-Mark sells Universal Joint replacement kits of various sizes and types.

Look at their web site, http://www.micromark.com for catalog number 83290 and/or 83485.

If you have or can find an old junker Athearn engine the parts may be interchangeable since LifeLike copied the Athearn drive.

A-Line Industries also makes several Universal kits for diesels that might work. The package generally contains enough parts that can be retrofitted into almost any current diesel model.

A-Line also offers a package with assorted splines and universals that are also compatible. Athearn also sells all the splines, sockets and universals. But a long one and trim it to size.
