Should have given a little more info, this is my 3rd home layout and after 25 years of collecting trains I am looking for the final layout, but since we have moved and the basement is all mine Im a little lost with all the room [31x51] . I have yet to get a track plan complete, I really didn’t want to wrap it completly around the whole basement just half way will be enough maybe I think HA HA , I have a work room and bathroom at the end of the basement and thats where the drop bridge would go ,the opening is 4 ft wide for the small hallway going to them. Its HO and most likely it will be a double track bridge so maybe a swing bridge might be the better idea. I was just looking for some info and ideas from those who have learned the hard way or easy way. Thanks to those who have sent me e mails and ideas, as soon as a track plan developes i will post it.thanks Jim
Mine is 4 feet long and swings. It is supported on both ends when it is closed and hangs on door hinges when it is open.
Check this thread for some pictures of my swing gate and some info.
