I am new to this and cannot afford model paint at the moment. Last night I got bored with the way my buildings looked and grabbed a dry erase marker to make a note of it. Well, I got a bright idea of experamenting with my marker on a brick building. I had great results and when I made a mistake, I just had to wipe it off. Have any of you tried this approach? Another cool thing about this is if you want to change it, just wipe it off.
Never heard of this before but, hey, why not? It either works or it doesn’t, and if it does go with it! I’ve tried some oddball sounding weathering ideas and they usually work OK. Things like little kids water color paint and graphite powder come immediately to mind…oh, and talcum powder, too.
RMC had an article on a similar approach using artists markers on brick. I have had good luck making weathered steel slabs by marking the edges with a brown/orange marker and painting the ends with rubbing alcohol to make a rusty appearance.
