I used to get good dry transfers for restoring Lionel locos from Janice Bennett, but it appears she’s no longer in business. Anyone know where I can get GG-1 stripes & lettering, steam cab numbers, tender lettering, etc?
I’m not positive, but you might try microscale decals-steven@microscale.com is the link I use for questions. Good luck with your search. olsens toy trains has stamps for loco numbers if you want to ink stamp they may also be a source for other decals or transfers- Tom M
I used to buy decals, rubber stamps and transfers from Janice Bennet also but haven’t seen her for quite some time. Janice used to sell at many train shows in the area. Janice took over the business when her father passed away but perhaps did not have the same enthusiasm or love of the hobby. I heard a rumor a while back that Janice may have sold the business but I’m not sure about that. You may try locating her. I believe that Janice lived in either Closter or Chester, NJ
Yes, Janice seems to be out of business. I too, sent her a whole dollar for a catalog and never heard back. Oh well, onto othet dry decal makers…
I have read that Lionel caused Janice to quit offering transfers due to copyright infringement. Urban Legend? I don’t know. I have found that repro parts dealers all offer a slightly different selection so best to check ttender.com, georgetebolt,.com, traindoctor.com as well as olsens. Few offer dry transfers probably because the Bennets were the only source. I restored some 610-612 cars 30 years ago using Alfred’s transfers and still have a set of white Loco numerals but I suspect they are well dried out and useless by now. As for the GG1 you might be able to adapt some scale decals from Champ or Microscale.
