dt100 capable of 4 digit addresses?

hey everyone

just upgraded two throttles with dt400’s, will my old dt100 handle 4 digit addresses, also on the dt400 what do i have to get to make infra red work. i have a standard dt400 right now.

thanks

o - The DT100 will do - jus a pain in the ‘a**’ to do. Read the instructions(available on the Digitrax site). Look for the old 1998 ‘Chief’ manual…

o - DT400 has IR ‘built in’. You will need a IR ‘base unit’ (UR90) to receive the ‘IR’ signal from the DT400. The UR91 will handle both IR and ‘radio’ signals if you plan to add radio ‘wireless’ throttles in the future.

I have a Digitrax Chief (radio) with DT100, DT300 and a DT400. The DT100s have no problem selecting 4 digit addresses. Look in your Digitrax manual or you can download the instructions for free from Digitrax web page. I have condensed the DT100 and DT300 locomotive selection, consist and dispatch instructions to a single sheet of instructions which I printed on colord card stock. I keep them near the layout for visitors and me if I forgot what to do. I also have two UT-1 which will not acept 4 digit addresses. All my future purchasess will be UT-4r, which will take 2 and 4 digit addresses. I started out with only two throttles and picked the others up on ebay for about 1/2 price.

Digitrax no longer sells DT-100, DT300, UT-1 or UT-2. With a one DT-400 in a set for programming, all you need is lots of UT-4.

Forget the IR, spend the extra money and go radio. My [2c]

to select a 4 digit address with a dt100 hit the select button like normal. then turn the knob until you pass 99 or so( there are a few hex numbers in there go past them). the little exp light will come on. Use the left knob to select the 1000s s and the right knob to 1s. ie if your number is 2710 use the left knob to go up to 2700 and the right knob for the 10. it will show the number as 2710. then hit select again.
