I have a DT400R throttle that has been working flawlessly and recently has developed a problem. When I plug it in to the Loconet and try to select a loco it begins emitting a ticking sound and displays a random address number. The number then starts counting down in unison with the ticking. I thought I would check here to see if anyone has experienced this before and if there was a fix prior to my sending it off for a “Florida Vacation”. My system is a Zephyr with a UR91 and two additional UP5 panels. I have tried plugging in a UT 4 throttle into each of the panels and have experienced no problems so I sure sure that the problem is in the DT400R rather than the system.
That was one of the first things I checked. No luck - they all seem to be functioning OK. I wonder if I send it in for an update to a DT402R they will fix this problem too?
You were close - it was the Y+ button that was acting up. I had looked at all the buttons before I answered Jack’s post and they all seemed OK. Out of frustration I started at the bottom row and pushed each button a couple of times and when I came to the Y+ button it felt a little different. I pushed it a couple of times and it seemed to free up and the clicking went away. I’ll keep an eye on it and if it acts up again I’ll opt for a DT402 upgrade. Thanks to you and Jack for your insights.
It’s usually the Y / + button that gets stuck. Less frequently the N / - button. Using a sharp #11 Exacto blade some of the label around the button can be carefully trimmed away. That will help to keep it from sticking again.
