I had a basic Bachmann EZ track for my kids who are now grown. I want to do a 4x6 layout where I can run two trains at the same time. I have a lot of Atlas code 100 so that’s what I want to use. I also have a lot of village buildings and scenery. I’ve tried using Atlas software but struggling. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
A 4x6 layout is a little small for 2 trains on a single track with passing sidings - trains would have to be very short and would be constantly in each other’s way.
Instead I would build a double track oval. This allows for easy running of 2 trains. If it’s a DC layout use insulated rail joiners so you can have a crossover between the tracks. Add spurs as desired during track laying.
Atlas sectional track of 22" radius and 18" radius will work for the ovals. But I would add a short straight to the middle of the inner 18" curve so that the track centers are 2" on the straights.
Good luck
Paul
Welcome to the forum, RJ1969!
I assume the set is DC, so Paul’s advice is good. Let us know how this works out for you.

Thanks, I did see a small train setup on Youtube Impressive but not in my skill range. I’ll go into Scarm and work on the design. Most of my track is the old Code 100 brass. As time and money permits I hope to switch to Nickel Silver.
Appreciate the input.
Thanks
Yes I’ll be using DC. I have two controllers, a Bachmann and an MRC 1300. So I can easily run the double track.
