Duct tape

For the railroaders out there, what do you use duct tape for?

Just curious. Saw a bumper today being held on solely by duct tape. I know years ago under the CNW flag, their hottest train, the Falcon (bird), had all the air hoses connected with duct tape so it wouldnt come apart if snagged or slack.

To keep the cold air out of the cab.[;)]

Everytime I get a slip joint, I duct tape the glad hands together with zip ties.

Also like the post above, I can get very creative with duct tape inside the cab.
Covering the cracks in my seat, sealing off air vents when my hogger wants to run the A/C the whole trip and its only 70* outside, ha ha…

Ditto to the above posts especially on the door of the short nose units as the seals go bad quick if they are even there at all and also used in conjuction with paper towels to keep windows from rattling I also use it to make covers for my NiCad lanters batteries so they won’t short out if they touch something metal I also use it to make holders to heat food up with using the sidewall heater and to make lighting shields so I can read my paperwork in the dark with out disturbing my hogger

seal up cracks around the doors to keep the cold air and or rain/snow out of the cab… used it once to fix my boot that had an issue happen while on duty… used it to patch holes in some rain gear… used it to tape fusees together to make a “marker light” becouse our yard ran out of EOTs and i needed to go out on the main for a few miles after dark… used it to make a repair to my lantern due to “droping it” in a temper tantrum becoues some things not going well one time… and the best one i have seen one time from a pic that was floating around when i hired out… someone duct taped a conductor trainee to his seat while he was sleeping and took a pic as a prank…and used it to tape packs of fire crackers together for some 4th of july fun at work…

There’s a conductor I’d like to do a double-wrap-around on–the ear plugs just aren’t doin’ it for me any more.

Found a few drafts that it worked well on, until the next person wanted to open the windows.

ductape would work well for the conductor issue…but then you might have to deal with some fallout from managment…lol… just use the horn every time he talks… drown him out… he might get the point sooner or later…lol

If the women don’t find you handsome, they should at least find you handy!

I’m a man, I can change, if I have too, i guess…

That would work, if I were an engineer and we shared a cab. But I can’t exactly put a cork in my intercom system. We’ve found that the only way to shut him up is to ask a pertinent question.
