I have been hearing a rumor of late about a small shortline here in Arkansas. I don’t know if the rumor is true but it is an interesting bit of gossip. [:0]
The rumor concerns the Caddo Valley Railroad Company of Glenwood, Arkansas. According to rumor this shortline has purchased RLIX # 126 and # 130. Well you say what is so interesting about THAT ? [?] Well these two units are Baldwins. [:0] [}:)] [;)] [8D] [:)] So THAT does make this an interesting rumor afterall.
If this rumor is true it will certainly be worth a road trip or two to get some photos of them in action. I personally have never seen a Baldwin so I better take advantage of this opportunity. [:)]
I’m sure most of you are familiar with this RR, especially after the big stink about some stolen horns, but I think they have to be the largest Baldwin opperators, certainly on the east coast.
A grain elevator in Long Beach harbor used to have a couple of Baldwins.I used to watch them switch, and even got a cab ride once.[:D]They also owned a whitcomb 45 ton unit.I am glad that Baldwins are still operating someplace.[:)]
