A man drove down the track and got stuck. Fortunately a bystander got him out to face charges of DUI and trespassing on railroad property. His car was hit by two METRA trains - the news video shows only the fireball after the second impact.
I think we’ve had a thread or two on this incident (in Hinsdale) already. Kudos to the guy who saved this driver’s life.
He was cited for driving under the influence–and for trespassing!
Just to let you know that incident made the Fox 5 10 PM News broadcast here in the Washington, DC area last night, January 30. It showed the fireball that erupted after the car was hit. The guy who drove that car is lucky to be alive.
Good thing no one was in that car. I’d hate to be on the business end of an F40. Was anyone injured?
Nobody was injured as the guy who was pulled from the car on the tracks by the wonderful bystander was the only occupant. Did any of you folks get to see the picture of the driver of the car who had reportedly been in treatment for alcoholism (DUI)??? Wow, was he ever a walking, talking picture of somebody who abused himself!!!

Does anyone know how fast the second train was going when it hit the car? It looked like it was going fairly fast when it hit the car, but then it didn’t clear the crossing before it came to a stop. I don’t think I have ever seen a train stop that fast.
