Dul-Coat and Sharpie Markers

I was wondering…Didn’t I hear/read somewhere that Dul-Coat will remove Sharpie ink, or at least make it run? I have some small places on a structure I am building that I have used a Sharpie marker to paint some small details and would like a coat of Dul-Coat on it when I am done to protect the paint. I don’t want to make the Sharpie ink run down the side of my building.

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks, Mike

It is in the MR magazine sometime ago I have no clue to when though

Yes, it will run and/or smear. I think they both have a lacquer or similar base; I have used Sharpie pens as resist for pc boards, and lacquer thinner removes it just fine. Gary

Try it on some scrap and see. Might be able to get away with light coats till it’s sealed.

I know it dulls the silver and makes it look grey.

I know hexane works well from when I worked in a lab!
