Duluth, MN = MILW #261

Just let everyone know, the Milwaukee Road Steamer #261 will be arriving in Duluth,MN around 3:00 and 3:30 P.M.

Too bad I can’t get up there. That would be something to see.

Just curious, do you know if the 2719 has a expected running date? As far as I know, aside from the removed pistons, she was still in running condition, correct?

Phil

She already had her hydro done, so aside from the piston, yes, she could run. We are shooting for August.

I heard from some folks that the northbound run yesterday was great. They had a really nice time. Waiting to hear how they enoyed the North Shore Dinner train last night and the SB return ride to MNPLS today.

The train we ran for them was long. It was about 45 minutes late becasue of all the private cars we had to switch everywhere. We were switching with the Soo line GP30 #700 and Amtrak P42 #53 and it still took over two hours.

What kinda p***ed me off about their group is some guys were complaning about how we had put our BUDD RDC #9169 on the end. We had to becasue or pizza train (which would normally be 5 cars but we didnt have enough people) was running that night, and their cars were in addition to our train. I wanted to go over to them and tell them that if they wanted to run THEIR engine, they could put whatever they wanted on, but as long as we had OUR engine on the train, theyre outta luck. Then they put the Amtrak unit on in boxcar mode. Pointless.

One guy actually complained that we had to put the GP30 on the train. I was seriously thinking about asking him if he planned on sitting in the end door of the P42 radioing distances to the engineer when we were running long hood forward. DO’OH!

Overall, most of the #261 volunteers were really nice guys though, they do a good job.

But what surprised me is the paint on the Super Dome. There is already a big patch of it missing where you can see in to the metal…Wasnt it just repainted?
