DUMB PEOPLE

HI everyone I just read on the channel 12’s web site that two people were killed today while walking on train tracks in oakcreek they were killed by an amtrak train going to chiacgo. I do beleave it was amtrak number 334. But anywho like I have said before people will never learn that walking on railroad tracks are private propety and that you can get hurt or even killed as proven today some people will never learn. I swear people still think that trains can stop on a dime just like a car or bus can well they are dead wrong because it can take over a mile to stop for a train going 55 mph but now amtraks. Travel even faster so it takes them longer to stop well aleast. I think anyway. But anywho like I said people really need to learn about railroad safety about where they can cross and can not cross train tracks and this should go along with motorest to not just for people wanting to cross the tracks that’s why they have railroad crossings and public grade crossings to. But ohwell if anyone has anything to add go right ahead and add your[2c] to this subject

It’s just plain crazy and to be walking the rails. Some think it’s really fun - a real hoot. Check the photos.

Those are a couple of idiots…just think what might happen if a train snuck up on them while they were doing these goofy poses! [:(!][:(!]

Those pics look photoshopped…

Still, the basic idea is the same.

I love people who post very direct comments without getting all of the facts first! Don’t trust the media’s first reports before condemning these two people as morons. Have some respect for the dead. You have no idea why they were there. Yes the word “trespassing” was used by the media. However, they could have had a very legitimate reason for being there.

Take it easy folks. There are actual lives and stories behind the news story.

Not only do we have a couple idiots who obviously posed for pictures while standing in the middle of a railroad bridge, but we also have an idiot photographer who should have known better!

yesterday in Gwinnett Co. GA a man went thourgh the crossing when the Amtrak Cresent was coming hit him and then his car was in flames killing him during the time the crossing had flashing lights and everything. The train was going around 79(not overspeeding).

Here’s the story, lifted from another source:

While I wouldn’t go so far as to call these teenage girls “morons”, I think it’s safe to say that they had absolutely no business being where they were.

Two teens killed by train

Two Oak Creek teens walking on the railroad tracks in an area off-limits to pedestrians were struck and killed Saturday by an Amtrak train en route to Chicago from Milwaukee Saturday.

The girls, 14 and 17, were hit about 11:10 a.m. near W. Drexel Ave. and S. 6th St. in Oak Creek, according to Oak Creek police and a Canadian Pacific Railway official.

Police were trying to contact family members Saturday night, said Oak Creek Lt. Dan Hermann, who was in charge of the on-scene investigation.

The accident shut down the rail line and delayed about a dozen freight and passenger trains for several hours, said Rick Tessman, Milwaukee field operations supervisor for Canadian Pacific Railway.

Tessman said at the scene that the train’s engineer— a veteran with more than 30 years of experience — sounded the train’s horn and braked before the impact. Tessman said it appeared that the two teens were struck just beyond the south end of the railway overpass that crosses Drexel.

Hermann said Saturday that he had not yet determined precisely where the pedestrians were struck or how far their bodies were thrown.

Tessman said that the speed limit for passenger trains at that point is 79 mph and that the train likely was traveling at or near that limit when the engineer started braking. The train came to a stop about a quarter mile past the impact site, he added.

Amtrak spokeswoman Marcie Golgoski said that none of the approximately 90 passengers on the train was injured. The tracks are used by Amtrak and its trains, but are owned by Canadian Pacific.

Here’s what happened to those pictured people later on…

Talk about DUMB PEOPLE…They look so happy, but if only there weren’t deaf and would just turn around!

By the way, the thing north Chicago, that sucks too, but they had other places that they could be besides between the railheads.

Nice art work UPTRAIN! Here’s one more.

Paging Mr. Darwin …

Yeah, I’m glad nobody in this forum did something stupid when they were a teenager.

Come on guys - lighten up on these kids. They’re kids after all.

This thread started off tasteless and it’s going downhill from there…

Since WHEN does anyone have a LEGITIMATE reason to tresspass on railroad property??

CANADIANPACIFIC2816

I am a teenager and I can proudly say that I have NEVER walked on railroad tracks. I am a railroad photogerapher, I respect the power, size and mass of locomotives and trains, and would never endanger myself by standing in the path of one.

However, I don;t think I can speak for all kids my age…[:(]

Thanks uptrain [:)], you out photochoped the photochop…

Full Marks!

Kurt

seems to me you don’t care about these people as much as you care about how they upset you with their own deaths.
You are disturbed by such deaths so you blaim those who have died.

Perhapse it is time to realize that you are responsible for your own emotions

I heard about that too. It really is sad to see, but I somehow doubt they can blame anybody but themsevles…

My condolences go to the engineer in the accident, who will have to live with the memory of this for the rest of their life because of two people’s stupidity.
