dummy plug

I have a model power F-7A #2160 Loco, it says it is dcc ready. It has a small dummy plug, at least thats what I think it is, and I want to get a decoder for it. Any information regarding this Loco would be great. I spent a lot of time trying to find out what this plug is and how to put a decoder in in but to no avail.
thanks
Bill

I don’t have one of these locomotives but I think it is a 9 pin edge connect plug. There are several decoders that should just plug straight in. The hardest part is getting the shorting plug off the end of the harness.
Here are a couple pictures that might help.

OK, the picture from tonys toy trains you linked me is the train. I cannot see the plug that clearly, but my plug seems to be connected to a small board, it my plug into something else. I really don’t know. I may have to wire the decoder in and remove this plug. I am going to try to paste in an image.
Thanks, Bill

That’s more than likely the NMRA 8 pin plug if it’s in the circut board itself. Remove the dummy and count the pins to be sure.

Ok, I figured it out. Thanks for the help. I have to take the shorting plate off and attach the decoder. Got it. Now I just have to find the decoder. I seen a lot of DSD100- LC decoders but no DSD100. I’ll find one if I look hard enough.
Thanks again.

Now it has to be the RIGHT DSD100. It will have a number like 821434 or something like that with it also. The DSD100 is just the “umbrella” number. The other number is for the specific loco.

Careful, careful, the DSD’s are sound units. I just used that link for an example because it was the exact locomotive you had. You don’t have to use that exact decoder, especially if you don’t want sound. There are many decoders that will fit into that socket.

The other link I showed was an NCE D15SR.
There is also the Digitrax DH123D and Lenz LE1025 that would work.
Any with the 9 pin edge mount.
