Dust Bunnies, Attack

I’ve been thinking about my Climax going to the work in the mines.

It’s going to be working under an ore tipple. It’s going to get dusty.

So how do I make it dusty?

My best guess is ground up pastels.

Floquil has a color called dust. Don’t know what it looks like, but if your going for the dust bunny look your half way there. ( now you just have to find out who makes bunny colored paint)

Sending this back up

Take a look at Bragdon Weathering powders. Their web page is at bragdonnet.com Remember that moving parts will be cleaned & greased every day to keep the grit from ruining them.

Good luck.

Bukwrm-spelled it wrong. Heres the link

Darn, I thought this was the new dust bunnies forum!!! [:(]

Oh well, guess it needs to get into the main stream to get interest flowing.

I have had good luck with pastels, though in handling unless you dull coat it will after time wear off.

I’ve had mixed results with Floquil or Polly Scale dust. I generally prefer pastels. I usually grind some up on some coarse sandpaper and apply with a old semi-stiff brush. You can also use an airbrush and lay on fine washes of diluted color. Dust can come in many colors, depending on what’s making it. Coal dust would be different than desert dust, for example.
