Dutchess Hobbies closed?

A sign that usually pops up in a closed restaurant in New York CIty is “closed for remodeling” and before you know it something else opens in the same space. Stopped by Dutchess Train and Hobby in Poughkeepsie this weekend and there was brown paper in the windows and a sign in the window that claimed it was closed for remodeling, reopening June 1. Considering that was two weeks ago, should we assume the worst? Their website doesn’t say anything, and their answering machine seems to still be working.

Closed, yes, this was discussed ad-nauseum a few weeks prior.mike h.

In which forum? A search for Dutchess turned up nothing. And someone should update their website and voicemail, but that is probably the last thing on their mind.

Sorry to see them go. They were reasonably well stocked, and always seemed helpful. Glad I swapped some thing I bought in time. Garrett

The store where Dutchess Train and hobby was is not going to reopen as a hobby shop. He was probably hurt by the condition of the economy. I have heard that he may be selling by mail order. A member of my club works two stores over from the former hobby shop and she hasn’t been able to find out what it will be.
