Mookie-No chocolate cake, but pumpkin, pecan and apple pie at our house. I know it’s not the same but I’m not sure there would be enough time to bake a cake too, and we have a double oven![V] I could get chocalte whipped cream I guess.
Seriously, here’s hoping that everyone has a terrific holiday and gets to share with family and friends. I’m super excited because this is the first year I get to put the Christmas train up around the tree![:D] WOOHOO!
Happy Holidays and safe travel!
Mike
PS Mookie-Just make sure your chicken isn’t a “mud chicken”. I made sure our ham wasn’t a “hogger”! [^] (Yeah, I know that was a bad joke.)
Happy Thanksgiving to all in the Trains family here. [:)]
Remember the troops (including our allies…Kieran/Rhian), the cause or reason they are there isn’t important, but they are. Holidays away aren’t holidays, they’re just another day with better food…sometimes.
Well, I was going to start a thread like this just a little later today. I am traveling tomorrow and will be gone till Sunday. I might get a chance to sneak on at my sister’s house but can’t make any promises. The Mookster beat me to the punch today, so I will just add my 2 cents here.
I do wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. I also hope you enjoy the time with family and friends. During the slack times between the football games convert some non-railfans into railfans. If you have a model railroad at home this will help. Let them play with your train (and maybe one of these days they will let you play with their trains) and also let them blow the horn and make smoke.
Remember now, play fair. Oh, and about the football games. Remember everyone can’t win. So if your team loses just go railfanning. [:D]
We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and a safe trip if you are traveling. Bob and I both enjoy all of the postings and good messages. We thank you all.
We are spending this Thanksgiving at our home with just the two of us because Bob isn’t up to “large family gatherings and all of the confusion” right now. W e are fortunate to have close contact with all of our kids and two who live in Tucson. Enjoy your holiday, hope your favorite football team wins, and remember —quote Bob " always think Amtrak when traveling."
Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe!

My post may sound a little bitter, compared to the others so far (especially the one that mentioned pecan pie!), but that’s not the intention. This is more of a cautionary note to those of you who would want to become railroaders.
As of now, our Thanksgiving schedule is up in the air…it looks like I may have to work during the holiday, for the first time in many years. Plans to be with our families in Michigan, 200 miles distant, had to be scrapped. Our nephew, who was to go up there with us (attends college locally), was forced to get Amtrak tickets (something I really didn’t want him to do unless I was going with him…I’d planned on riding back home with him Friday). Too late to buy a turkey (do they make them small enough for two, anyway?). So it’s a hasty home-cooked dinner (a-la Sunday) before I go off to spend the afternoon and evening switching cars.
The day after Thanksgiving is also a holiday for us; so far we know nothing about whether we’ll be working or not. That one isn’t quite as upsetting, because it doesn’t come ahead of a weekend for me (I’m on my “weekend” now).
The upside is that these will be paid holidays, and that, since everyone appears to be working, it should be rather routine (it would be brutal trying to hump cars into a yard that nobody was pulling from at the other end). And, barring a major disaster, we should be clearing out the work that would otherwise have to be done on Saturday and Sunday in the old “catch-up” game. So while the rest of you are too full to move out of range of the annoying relatives, and half of you are watching your team lose The Game, I’ll have eight solid hours of watching trains, albeit one cut of cars at a time.
[8D][:)][:p][;)]forget the football game lets all go watch two or more trains go buy count the cars close your eyes and guess what type of loco is pullin it then eat drink & be the first one to show pictures of trains its kinda cold today but itll get better when your gathered around the table gettin stuffed.

[^][:p][:D][8D]Happy thanksgiving, everybody! This is the first year Metrolink is running on Thanksgiving,so I plan to take a break from football, and take a ride in the afternoon.[:o)][:)]
As we all sit down to our Thanksgiving dinners, let’s give a special prayer for our military men and women wherever they are serving and another prayer for the families whose family member has lost their life and will not be home again. We also need to prayer for all of our military who have been wounded in this conflict. We owe these people and their families so much.
And again, let’s remember all of the things we all have to be thankful for.
Bob and Nancy from AZ
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! If you are travelling, stay safe; if your family is coming, may they be safe. If you are with your family, give thanks that you are together; if part of your family is away, be thankful that they are safe.
Remember our troops, and others who will watch and protect us this Thanksgiving, and those who have made these Thanksgivings possible for us today.
