Hope they can get back into operation. It was a very neat railroad with the buildings used when operating. The Friends have done much to save those buildings. Much of its equipment was very old.
Strasburg RR is much closer to population centers and has great museum area. Having ridden the EBT in the 1960s on the observation parlor car platform, I love it and the unusual experience of narrow guage from such a vantagepoint.
It would be a real shame if the EBT remains dormant. Such an authentic place where so much effort has been put forward. How it doesn’t generate revenue like the Strausburgh RR. Is beyond me. Just an idea…maybe someone could examine another sucessfully operating tourist rr and integrate their business practices. Which I lived closer I would definitely roll up my sleeves and get to work to help out. Best of luck friends of EBT!
