Cruddy day with lots of rain, and a bit of wind thrown in there for good measure. I’ve spent my day “working on the RR”. Weathering really. I’m getting the hang of this and having a ball doing it. Don’t really know if the results are worth posting, but maybe I’ll break out the Canon and post some later if I can ever get this paint to dry in this humidity.
To avoid my idiot roommate I have been at a friends house for most of the day nearby. I’ll run home in the rain later, maybe work on the layout for a bit. This my only day off in almost two weeks, not the day I had in mind.
Despite the weather my NMRA Division met today to make final preperations for our Train Show in two weeks. Some of us went to visit the LHS, power was out but he was still open. We browsed with flashlights, talked with the owner, etc. He even made a few sales . Eventually power was restored, more sales were made. Just got a little wet, but it was worth it. Working some over-time tomorrow so I’ll have extra $$ for the show.
Just kinda wet here in Massachusetts. I was glad for it - I spent the day installing traffic lights in downtown Moose Bay. I’d picked up the Walthers ones on sale over the last few weeks, and yesterday I dropped by the LHS to pick up the controller. (I’d tried to build/adapt another circuit, but it just wasn’t going to work.)
Anyway, I got one intersection all installed and running. It looks great, and I had a lot of fun getting it all done.
As we speak, the Choptank River is slowly and quietly creeping up the end of my street. Not as bad as Isabelle a couple years ago, but high tide isn’t until 10. The neighbors are nervously hanging around outside and moving their cars up the street…
Fortunately I’ve got plenty of elevation where I am, and my train room is in the Attic!![:D]
I sure wish you folks could somehow redirect all your excess rainfall to the watersheds that feed Lake Mead. It’s still at less than 1/2 capacity thanks to several years of drought.
The weather here has been normal - sunny, with three-digit (F) high temperatures. It will have to cool off considerably before the layout room is inhabitable after noon - but that’s an improvement over last month’s overheat at 0930.

I am about 75 miles or so south of Lee, and all we had was some rain (not like we expected) and a little wind.(also not like we expected) Anyway, we were prepared, so I just stayed in the house and worked on detailing one of my RR room doorway lift bridges. (I have a model building workbench in the house. (My wife has one too, although she does Quilling.)) [swg]
