East Montana Railroad

Does anyone know where I can find any information on a short line that
operated under the name East (or Eastern…) Montana Railroad back in
the early to mid 1900’s ?

Thanks’

I am far from being an expert on railroads in Montana, but I do know of a Montana Railroad but I am not sure if you are referring to the eastern portion of The Montana Railroad or an entirely seperate railroad company under that Eastern name.
The Montana Railroad was known as"The Jawbone Railroad."It was built through the Big Belt Range and traversed Sixteen Mile Canyon and had the lowest pass between the Castle and Crazy Mountains as well as the Little Belt. It was founded as The Montana Midland in 1893 by Richard Harlow to haul low grade coal and was eventually leased then purchased by The Milwaukee Road in 1910. There’s more to the story but I am not certain we are talking about the same road.

Thanks, WallyWorld…
