Easy and busy industry for modern covered hoppers

Those modelling the more modern era, and who need an easy-to-build industry for covered hoppers, can find a great prototype to model just off Hwy. 401 in Mississagua, Ontario: Three tracks, and sometimes 5-6 (or more) hoppers lined up at the same time.

There are a lot of easy industries for covered hoppers. Plastics molding plants, team tracks, bakeries, grain elevators. really not rocket science.

John:

Thanks for providing the idea. As you have mentioned industries such as you have suggested provide an opportunity to have some switching interest without having to do a lot of detail work in setting up the site. There are plenty of opportunities out there - we just have to look.

Frac.

Sand.

Distributor.

Silo, or two, track dump pit, conveyer to silo(s), truck loading shute.

Super easy. Even more so with the Walthers kit.

(Yep. I have one for my layout.)

Thanks for posting the photo JDL. He’s smart to point out realistic ways of using grain cars. They have a lot of purposes and good to get a refresher.

Those aren’t grain cars at the industry. They are plastic pellet cars.

Hi JDL56

The simplest solution

Is just a siding truck parking area and portable car unloader, or pipe work heading off the edge of the known world could be any covered hopper carrying any suitable product.

universal industries so to speak
