i am making a small n scale layout.i read that youy can wire each rail to each post on power pack and use metal rail joiners. id i do this can i still use electric turnouts?
what is the easiest and cheapest way please? i want to only run one train
Electric turnouts are powered separately from track power (the power going from the power pack to the rails.)
If you’re just running a small layout intended for single-train operation, one set of wires ought to do it. It can be helpful to have several power feeds in different locations, to ensure that you get roughly equivalent power everywhere on the layout–sometimes a loose rail joiner or just too long a run will cause a power drop. Soldering your rail joiners will help ensure good electrical contact–with a small layout you probably won’t have to worry too much about expansion/contraction in cold & heat being a big problem.
