Reluctantly I have to conclude that much of what Harold posts (outside of trucking industry) is factually challenged and requires fact-checking to correct the misinformation.
I hope that I and the rest of us will attempt to be more accurate.

Every Good writer always writes in their books âcorrections welcomedâ.
How exactly does any of that extraneous and irrelevant information make me âmisinformedâ? Who cares when the standard was created, they used it to protect against imports and the EU ruled the same way. My point still stands and I am not going down a tangental rabbit hole.

Youâre talking about BYD the CCP owned company that literally has stolen every single battery design they use along with software and hardware for their cars. All their so called advantages are due to being built in China were theyâre literally able to cherry pick the best part of anything another company comes up with if itâs made in China.

Now youâve done it. Though I would have mentioned first how many years we are already past the first date given that China would overtake the United States. Which I think has been pushed back to 2035 or later now. Might also mention all the money they have spent trying to dispute that India does not have more people than China, etc. Note the recent tension between India and Pakistan and who is encouraging it behind the scenesâŚsomeone is concerned over in Asia over their image and upset they lost the last Kashmir skirmish. I donât think itâs India or Pakistan.
Who cares? People that value accuracy in statements. Apparently that is not valued in your circles.
To be off by a few years is one thing, excusable. To be off by almost 500 years is quite another matter.
To suggest that the intention of the purity law was to restrict foreign trade is laughably ignorant.
And yet that is how the EU ruled on the case. I know you started the thread to argue with people. I am not going to argue further on this topic as I made my point.
You are incapable of arguing factually.
Your inability to deal with facts knows no bounds. I am not going to continue such discussions.
Iâm reminded of the OLD Alka-Seltzer commercials: âRelief is just a swallow away.â
"Plop, plop, fizz, fizz. Oh, what a relief it is!â
Not the EU but the European Court of Justice ruled that the âpurity lawâ wasnât necessary for health protection anymore and had developed into a protectionist law instead.
He seemed to think trade protectionist needs were the reason the Reinheitsgebot was made. How foolish!
âSeemed to thinkââŚwas not stated anywhere. Below is where these non-TRAIN discussions always end up at some point
The Pythons were first class.

Charlie, the concern that I have is that there have always been misinformed people. Many tried to hide their lack of knowledge on certain subjects by remaining silent. The last nine years, they seem to revel in their ignorance. Itâs baffling and mindboggling.
I donât think this is the place to explore their motivations. Only combat the disinformation.
Iâm not sure this is the place to do either, when the disinformation or its rebuttal is not railroad-related.
Correct me if Iâm wrong but I donât think Germany prohibited the US to export beer to Germany. It only had to meet the purity rules.
Expecting Germans to revise 500 year old laws to accommodate Americans strikes me as being kind of ugly.
When in Rome do as the Romans do. Itâs diplomatic and has worked for millenniums.
