Edaville Railroad -SwanSong?

On Nov 5, TRAINS Newswire carried an article that the current owners of the Edaville Property were going to try and sell it or break up the collection and piecemeal it out to interested buyers.

My Family and I moved to Mass in 1955, and in our short stay up there, my family made a number of excursions to South Carver for the train, and its museum collection of train memorabilia, and model railroad. My Dad really liked visiting there. I remember that the museum and model railroad was, I think sold off several years back (?).

I would like to think that some of the Northeastern Clubs might be able to purchase some of the ‘Two Footer’ rolling stock and engine(s) ?

Do any of the Posters here have any updated information about what is happening at Edaville? Or what is locally going on with any preservation or dispersement activities of the railroad?

THANKS!

There’s good news and bad news here. First the bad news: it is going away. Years of accumulation and public rides, the museum, its collection, and its ride offers are gone. The good news is that since it was not a common carrier railroad to begin with but rather a machine built and employed by Atwood at the time to harvest cranberries most all of its rolling stock was bought from historic sources and thus preserved. Plus, here is a chance, for two footers in Maine and elsewhere in NE to bring some of the equipment back home without upsetting someone elses’es applecart. In the long run it might actually be win/win/win/win/win situations for the present owners, the past owners, some future owners, afficianados of two footers, and the general public.
